The End of Table Tennis?

Had a depressing drop in my level of play today. I predicted it in my last blog post. I don't blame it on equipment choice or style. I blame it on passion which manifests itself as a lack of hours at the table and in particular no forehand practise on the robot ever or with a partner.

I think missed about 80% of my forehand loop attacks or it felt that way. I won about 50% of my games to a guy I only ever would the odd game in an hours play.

Energy transfer

Where does your energy come from?

To me it draws me in like a drug. I am sucked into wanting that rush. Like a child I will complain if my mother does not give me what I want. No matter what activity I am searching for either a form of zen meditation or a rush of adrenalin.

It is two sided: one is not thinking about all the other things in life that just over use our mind. The other is the rush of success.

The cost of running a hall

I was totally shocked when I went to pay today at BTTA. I was dumbfounded! A few years ago fixtures players paid about $100 something for competition play a year, and then $11 bucks a week each night of competition. We could play for free to just practise any other time after that.

Then about a 2 years ago free practise went to $2 then last year $5 and last night:

$10 a table per hour for members!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What?!

Man I was shocked!!!
