Although I love my tenergy 05 I still search and review. I just got my new sheet of Andro Hexer black 2.1 today and stuck it on my blade. I am about 1750 two tenergy 05 winged looper in Australia. I will add to this tenergy 05 versus andro hexer review over the next few days, it's midnight and I just got home from the club after a few hours of comparing Hexer in matches with an older tenergy 05 red 2.1 on the other side of my butterfly ishlion blade.
First thoughts: Hexer feels softer than tenergy 05 and smells very different to tenergy out of the packet.
After reading many mixed reviews I bought a sheet of Hexer to totally make this clear. I am 100% sure Tenergy 05 is by far faster and spinnier than Hexer even though my tenergy 05 is about 3 months old and my Hexer is about 3 hours old.
Once you realise and accept that Hexer is a lower level or performance rubber than Tenergy, Hexer's strengths start to appear. Andro's Hexer without a doubt is better for the short touch game. Hexer is also super easy to control. Blocking fast attacks and slowing down the game is so easy. I like hexer as a contrast especially for service return but it lacks danger to my opponent.
I am excited by the rubber it reminds me of a speed glued solcion or put another way it feels like the best tensor I have tried yet. Hexer is an improvement on something like donic f3 or impulse speed. I like it a lot but it has nothing to worry my opponents exept for my ability to control their attacks.
day 2 - 15 hours
I played fixtures tonight with a variety of levels. I played 2 singles a doubles and two other regular practise partners tonight.
Because Hexer's topsheet has barely no grip compared to the tenergy the high toss is almost a total must to get big spin serves. The total lack of speed from hexer makes it very good almost like hurricane 3 neo in this department for serving. You get a lot of curve in your sidespin back or top without kicking forwards, so the second bounce is at the danger length bouncing right on the end line. You can do this with 05, and when you do get spinny serve with 05 it is spinnier but very hard to keep that short consistantly.
It's not just against backspin, it's looping any lower ball. With Hexer you have to work so hard to get the ball to go over the net. If you do manage to, it's like lots of rubbers I've used where the ball just clears the height and length of the net. Hexer really lacks any forward kick.
I won just the same as if I used Tenergy 05 both sides but I had to work so much harder and give up a lot more easy points and golden opportunites. In the toughest match which I won easily only in the 5th game though, I really felt it was due to turning my blade over so the tenergy 05 was on my backhand and the Hexer on the forehand.
Over the last 2 days of play I have tried on both backhand and forehand, and both ways have strengths and weaknesses. If you get someone with really good attacks you can block near the table and know it won't go long with the Hexer, but at the same time you lose out because when you get the chance to attack Hexer really is gutless compared to any tenergy rubber.
You have to stay near the table with Hexer. It really lacks danger once you step back. You can send a power shot back but it much less consistant, with less spin, less speed, in a word less danger to your opponent. In countering away from the table Hexer bottomed out to quickly for me, often plain slipped off the topsheet, the throw angle was much lower giving much less window. I really think the only control Hexer gives is for a play trying to learn how to block a good attackers 1st serve and 3rd ball. But what it returns gives an easy 5th kill.
Well the topsheet of the Hexer feels and looks almost identical the Xiom Vega pro. The Sponge of the Vega Pro was firmer and black. Hexer is the most similar to Tenergy 64 in the way it plays, but of course much slower and less surface grip.
Hexer is better than any other rubber I have tried for a long time apart from tenergy. lol
day 3 - now used Hexer for 20 hours
I put my Andro Hexer and an old Butterfly Tenergy 05 rubber onto my Timo Boll Zlf. I wanted to finish up my review with atleast a non carbon blade.
Hexer felt much nicer and even easier to keep the ball on the table in all shots. The control was really there. The only thing it still wasn't giving is the same as the last 2 days.
Tenergy 05 is the slowest and has the most control of the Butterfly Tenergy series. Hexer really is great for players in the lower levels looking to just mostly hit the ball onto the table and get good at looping. Last night, I played one of the best players at our club who practically attacks every ball that lands on the table. He pulverised me while using this slower less spinny set up. He said don't you have any other rubber to play with? He said it was very very noticably slower and I felt I had no way to send the ball back to him that would cause much trouble. I then pulled out my ishlion again with tenergy 05 on both sides and the tables started turning. Sure he punished me for passive returns, but his errors started coming out with all the weird side spin and deeper more penetrating shots. With Tenergy I could attack first much more, and when I did attack it was much harder for him to counter. My serves improved with spin and errors appeared there too.
For people looking for a replacement to their tenergy speed and spin. Hexer is not the answer. For people looking for a less "hot" rubber Hexer is excellent choice. If you are coming from using old generation rubbers, the Hexer is great.
The Price is often the reason people stop using tenergy, but Hexer is only few dollars cheaper than Tenergy.
I think a better review would be to compare andro Impuls speed which I used about 2 years ago (I think). They both fall into the same kind of slower speed lower spin category. They both have spin and both have speed but are not serious power or spin. The Hexer would win on spin and the dynamic front for sure and the Impulse speed would win on the light punchy bounce side.
This concludes my review of Andro Hexer. It cost me $50 Australian to buy from Europe. I sold it to an Andro lover last night for $30. So this review cost me $20. I am happy about that. $1 an hour to rent and try a rubber is a fair price.

compare xiom vega europe and butterfly tenergy 64 rubber
The vega Europe and tenergy 64 are quite similar I found. I still like the way the ball is caught more by the tenergy 64. Is there any Andro Hexer 1,7 mm forum information? I wonder if thinner plays better on a softer blade so that looping is easier.
andro hexer for some reason from all that I have seen and tried seems to loop alright like a cheaper tenergy 64 with a lower power. IT also seems to be a splash unpredictable.
hexer+ reviews
I have read many hexer+ reviews now and I can conclude that the only thing men learn from history is that they learn nothing from history. Stick with Tenergy, it is a proven formula.
Other information I have found around the place is that if we believe the new Andro descriptions, Duro seems to be like Vega Pro. 100% natural rubber, slower than Hexer and spinnier.
Powersponge is more like a Vega Europe, softer and louder compared to Hexer.
review of butterfly tenegy rubber
If you want to "top kill" the ball you have to use the best spinning rubber. But otherwise just settle for the less spin, coz Vega europe works well with taking the spin off as long as you are over the top of the table for a dedicated kill. Otherwise if you really want to top spin kill the ball get the real rubber = t64.
Andro Hexer update
I just wanted to update this post since when I wrote it, the difference in price with Hexer and Tenergy was minimal. Now Andro Hexer is about $47 everywhere and Tenergy has increased by 20%. I would say that tenergy 05 is still about 20% a better rubber for most serious loopers with enough money though.
You can see the current price of andro hexer by clicking this link.

andro hexer for chopping
Yea the price is high but it is practically impossible to do chopping with andro hexer.
This hexer table tennis rubber also now comes in a + plus, power sponge and duro variety. I am interested to find out how they all differ by someone who has actually tried them.
