The Nittaku Telion blade is a three ply hinoki blade that I have used for about 8 hours and will buy a flared version off my practise buddy shortly.
I am excited as it will be my first Nittaku blade ever, and I loved hinoki so much when I was at my peak and it feels like it suits my favorite rubber combination 25 and 05. It is like a perfect blade! It is fast soft and stiff. It is thick with a large inner vertical grained layer so has stiffness and speed to drive hit smash and attack. But is soft because it's 3 plies of only hinoki.
Best of all it is cheap! Sure it's the kind of blade that needs replacing as hinoki is a soft wood, but hay... It is a sexy blade.
I will be posting lots more about my progression with my thoughts about it.

Free for me!
Really appreciate my friend has decided to just let me have it. It is weird with this blade because although it is an offensive blade - the speed in loops feels very controlled all round. It just packs the speed in a flat punch or smash. It is flared (although I prefer straight) but does sit nicely in the hand. I don't know if the flared will alter my choice of shots. I like straight because I tend hold different angles at different stages of the rally and more mass in the handle balances heavy rubber too. Is it too thick? I am wondering, because I like thin, but if this is thinner then it would not be offensive. Overall I am excited to be playing with a very different kind of blade.

gears
Everyday I play with this beautiful blade I realise how excellent it is because of how many gears it has.
My game has both become very fast at top gear killer attacks and has also improved easily in loop control opening and countering.
touch shots and serves are wonderful too.
I don't think I can say anything else about this blade as I keep repeating myself.
signing off!

Telion blade
I have been thinking about that blade, it sound very interesting, especially for Tenergy rubber. Do you think that a 1 ply hinoki blade would be even better than this 3-ply blade? Have you tried a 1 ply blade before and can you compare it with yours?
Thank you
1 ply vs 3 ply
I have only used a friends for a bit
1. 1ply is dangerously easily to split the bat in half, you really need 3 to give the wood grain some vertical or horizontal support.
I wouldn't for this reason go there.
2. 1 ply is the most natural feeling thing you can ever play with - tons of feeling, the more plies the less you feel the ball as it gets distributed through the cross grains and glue.
3.more plies is faster and stiffer.
stiffer plays better with tenergy.
4. I am currently retrialling my allround grubba wood and I am getting used to it with tenergy. I like it on stiffer but on this slower blade with lots of patience I am learning a different game for a while.
